Unique Metal Works welcomes Intern Collin Benzoni who attends the University of Rhode Island and is a Mechanical Engineering major. We asked Collin about his major, his future, and his experience at Unique…

“Mechanical engineering has really been a part of me ever since I was in middle school when I started tinkering with small engines and suspension systems with basic hand tools and a welding machine. It fascinated me how every little piece makes a big effect on how the machine behaves and I was always trying to make it work more effectively.

Working under general manager Norman Brothers as well as project managers Tom Hinchey and Angela Barnes, I have learned all about the business and management side of the mechanical engineering world. My time at Unique Metal Works has given me excellent hands-on experience as a project manager learning both estimating and coordinating with our product vendors in a punctual manner.

In the future, I hope to find an engineering position that I will take a lot of pride in, and people will look at my work and see my passion.”
